Lucy Longlegs, a seven-year-old Lurcher, has been rehomed in Northumberland after spending more than 1,160 days in kennels. She spent almost half her life in care at Dogs Trust West Calder in Scotland. After arriving at the centre in the summer of 2022, she was added to the charity's sponsorship scheme in October 2024 when an adopter had not yet been found. A Northumbrian couple who had been sponsoring Dogs Trust dogs for many years met Lucy through that scheme and later adopted her.
Known details:
- Lucy Longlegs spent over 1,160 days at Dogs Trust West Calder before being rehomed.
- She arrived at the centre in summer 2022 and joined the sponsorship scheme in October 2024.
- The adopting couple had been long-time supporters and had sponsored Dogs Trust dogs for nearly 15 years, and they had sponsored Lucy before applying to adopt.
- The sponsorship scheme asks for £1 a week, helps fund care and increases visibility for dogs awaiting adoption, and gives sponsors three updates a year.
- Visits and a home trial took place before the adoption, and Dogs Trust staff reported Lucy has settled well with her new family.
Summary:
The adoption has placed Lucy in a permanent home where her new owners and Dogs Trust say she is more confident and enjoys snuggling and outdoor play. Undetermined at this time.
