Downtown Renton market expected to open this summer.

Renton city staff provided an update on the Renton Market and Piazza during a Feb. 9 Committee of the Whole meeting. The project, which began in 2019, is located on the north side of Third Avenue between Burnett and Logan avenues in downtown Renton. Construction is expected to finish in June or July 2026, and the city is coordinating with the planned operator on timing for tenant build-outs.
Project details:
- The market building will include about 11,783 square feet of indoor space and a 1,766-square-foot outdoor extension.
- The interior will house smaller central stalls and kiosks, with utilities and drainage to support vendors such as a fishmonger; the east and west ends are intended for larger "anchor" spaces that would require separate build-outs.
- The building will include a classroom kitchen for cooking classes and other community programming.
- Logan Market LLC, an entity formed by Renton developer Dave Brethauer, is slated to operate the market and the city plans a 10-year lease that starts in April.
- The operator had not signed vendors as of the update; city staff said tenants are expected to be "fully embedded" and smaller vendor booths operational by June.
- The piazza, to the south of the market, is planned as a public space with hardscape, grass and planted areas, and seating.
Summary:
The project is presented as a downtown activation effort to support small and local food businesses and community programming, with city and federal funding cited in past announcements. The lease timeline calls for operator improvements beginning in April and for vendors to be in place by June; construction completion is expected in June or July 2026. Undetermined at this time is the full tenant list and final operator selections, which the city says remain subject to the lease and vendor recruitment process.
